I grew up in a household where we went to church every Sunday, and we'd better be dressed nicely. As I got older, Sundays became horse show days or the one day of the week where my parents could finally relax. After going through all of the stress during my first year in college, it reinforced how important it is to have an everlasting relationship with God. Because of this, there are a lot of things that I have changed in my life.
Being a college student with many assignments and tests, it is safe to say I get stressed out very quickly. But instead of going out and partying to relieve that stress, I turn to reading Bible. Or how every night before I went to bed, I would think about all of the things that had gone wrong during that day. Now, I always pray before I fall asleep to help clear my mind and put me at ease. Never, ever underestimate the power of prayer. God hears you and he will always do what's best for you.
I would say that one of the most important things that has changed in my life, is that I'm not going to spend time dating someone who doesn't have God in their heart.
I'm not saying that every guy I've dated doesn't have God in their heart, but their actions proved otherwise. You can believe in God and go to church every Sunday, that's wonderful. What's more important to me is how you treat people, what you say and your actions. Those things show me a lot more about you than saying you attended the church service on Sunday.
Every man in my family are perfect examples of who I should marry. They love and support their families, have a fantastic sense of humor--that can push some buttons on the occasion--and they put God first.
Loving each other and loving God is what keeps a relationship stable, and continuously helps it grow. I've only ever seen the relationships between my parents, aunts and uncles, and my sister and brother-in-law grow, and that's because they are all centered around God.
Finding a man who knows that Sundays are for worshiping the Lord, praying together, and being with family is a quality that I cannot go without when it comes to marriage. There's definitely a longer list, but loving God is the priority in this case.
